"Ralph Lauren was borin, before i wore em"???

We all know Kanye and his swag is huge. Some may see him as cocky and a bit of an ass, but for me thats why Kanye is who he is. He hasn't been afraid to be different. Love him or hate him you, whether you admit it or not you've gotta respect what Kanye does. His impact on fashion is huge. Its been a minute since Kanye proclaimed "Ralph Lauren was borin before i wore em" in Rhymefest's song Brand New. Recently, I've been finishing up research on Ralph Lauren for a presenatation for school. Doin this project has definitely enlightened me on one of the most influential men in fashion history. I thought i knew the basics on RL but i was wrong. He did things and started trends that I didnt even think about it.His brand has become a lifestyle that many have come to love and follow. RL has been around for decades doin his thing. I'm sure Kanye meant no disrespect to RL, but it was stil a hot line. Reading info on RL I would go as far as saying that RL was Kanye before Kanye. RL did not take any bullshit when he was starting his line. If it wasn't his way he wasn't havent it. His confidence and determination has help him build an empire that is worth billions. If you really look into RL you could say that Kanye took a page from his book to work his way to the top. On DNRNEWS.COM'S yearly power rankings there is no surpise that Ralph Lauren is on the top of the list and his company is worth $4.88 billion. Ultimaltely, what I'm really doin is givin props. I'm not takin anything from Kanye, just thinking a little bit out of the box.haha. It's ironic that Kanye said what he said in that song because his road to success mirrors that of RL's. No matter what, just the fact that RL is in hip hop rhymes and songs shows what he's become, a fashion icon that has forever etched his name in fashion history as one of the best. Game recognize game, so Kanye u should too...because RL had swag way before you.

In our case "Fresh Recognize Fresh.." Ralph Lauren is the first installment of our recognition of people doin it big in the fashion industry...Whether they are big as RL/Kanye or a start up company we will be recognizing them and showin love. We do what we do here at Stat Fresh and we will be bringin fire but at the same time we are true fans of fashion. That's why we will be showcasing others too..-J

Pharrell x BBC/Ice Cream NY Flagship Store

It has been exactly 1 year since I visited the flagship store for BBC/Ice Cream in New York. Located in the very popular SoHo, the store does justice to the themes Pharrell tries to portray within the clothing line. A 2 floor store, of course 1 floor for each brand, the atmosphere and look of the store is as nice as the people that work there. In commoration of the 1 year anniversary P has released these limited quantity shirts available now.

Whatever I Like, I Put it OnMyRadio

So my guy TNS over at BlindIForTheKids.com beat me to the punch in doing a post on the new Musiq Soulchild album set to drop Dec. 9th.  But regardless this is an album not to be slept on.  Coming with his 5th album release, he has yet to disappoint, and in all honesty I don't think he ever will.  From the album production to his lyrics and harmony, Musiq brings you that feel good music that you don't really get much of now a days.  True to his own, he's destined to be one of the greats.  The man who brought u hits like JustFriends, Love, and last years hit, TeachMe, the new album OnMyRadio is a must.  So cop that album and support our favorite soulstar!!

Kanye West

In a recent interview in New Zeland, Kanye West held a press conference breaking down and giving us insight on his latest album, his clothing line, and everything else in between.  This in depth yet comical press conference gives us more of an understanding on his artistic approach to his latest album, 808s & Heartbreak, and what else he may have in store for not only for his fans but for himself.  In all honesty this is a must watch so don't sleep on it.  Enough typing, more watching.  The video can be found here.  Enjoy!

Kanye West: 808s & Heartbreak

So i picked up the new Kanye this morning, and I have mixed emotions about it. Since as long as I could remember, I have always been a fan of Kanye's music. He has never ceased to amaze me with the music he brings to his listeners. This year, it is a bit different, and kind of not. Like i said, I have mixed emotions about the new album. At first I was thinking, pretty much half the album has been leaked to the general public, why still release an album when most people have downloaded half the cd. Then I thought, what if its a teaser for something better to come in the future. I don't know. The reason why I have mixed emotions about the album is this. Kanye always comes hard with good album production as well as lyrics and his delivery. His approach with this album is different. Now don't get me wrong, I most definately respect the artistic approach he has taken, it takes some balls to switch up your style a bit, but it is good in its own way. From what we see and hear within the media, Kanye is going through a tough time, and in a nutshell, he is a bit emo. Being an artist that he is, his music is the median in which he can express himself with, which brings me to my conclusion. The reason why I am back and forth on wether or not I like the album, is because it is something that I am not used to. It is not the Kanye that I have grown to love, its not the Kanye that did College Dropout, but nonetheless, it is still Kanye. I will always be a fan. Common took a risk with Electric Circus and came back with BE, in which that album was complete fire! I know Kanye will do the same thing. He is going through an emotional time in his life, let him express himself. Let him experiment. I would have to say, this album lets us into more of the emotional side of Kanye, and at the end of the day, he is still human. He hurts just like the rest of us. Kanye is still an innovator, and he is still a powerhouse in the music today. Respect. Cop the album.

Agree to disagree?? Let us know what you think. - V

Lazy Sunday, re created on a monday.

A day off from my regular 9- 5, finally. So as you may all know, or not know, the clothing brand is slowly and definately moving along successfully. Although we are not making quick and heavy moves to push the brand out, we are still making moves that is significant to our success. A lot of time and passion is put into this project, and to rush it out to the public just to get the name out there is not the approach Chino and I want to take. This is a brand for the people, brought to you from us, and out of respect to those already established and who have already paved the way before us, it wouldnt do justice to what the culture and what Stat Fresh represents to push out a sloppy line. So in the meantime, as we keep you on the edge of your seats wondering what the line even looks like, not to mention when it is going to drop, we will continue to network, and network hard, and to this very minute, it is looking very promising. So while we are hard at work, we will keep you updated with the " Fresh Report." Comment us, email us, we want to hear from you too. Also, Happy Birthday again to one of the members of the Stat Fresh fam, Brian L. Fresh is what YOU make it. Love and respect to all. - V
